Mostly inspired by childhood fairytales, stories and myths, my photographs come to life through an interaction of these tales and realities of daily life. My main aim is to examine the significance of these stories to our adult world. These stories we hear from a very young age mould us. Morally, socially and emotionally… they are quite complex, with double meanings and multiple interpretations.

The actions of the characters teach us certain stereotypes in people. We see the characters transform and we transform with them… from being children to adulthood. As days go by we see that these stories are mostly about us, but the outcomes are not always the same as the happy endings of the tales. Because, reality is not as black and white as it looks in these stories… all the shades of gray are what count in life… so then, at times, we start breaking the moulds ourselves… and sometimes, we carry them with us.

The combination of 2- and 3-dimensions, past and present, and conscious and subconscious helps me to interpret the similarities and differences between what is real and what is imaginary. Once I decide where to take my character - I will use nature, found objects, knick-knacks from rubbish bins, and my collection of miniature heroes and heroines to build the scene of my twisted tale.
